Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Safe Food Alliance related to DFA of California?

DFA of California is the parent company to Safe Food Alliance. DFA of California expanded its services by forming an additional business segment, Safe Food Alliance, in order to increase the non-profit organization’s leadership position as a premier food safety provider to a wider variety of food industry sectors.

  • Are you a government agency?

DFA is a non-profit trade association with no government affiliations. We do, however, collaborate with some government organizations such as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are not associated with the California Department of Agriculture (CDFA).

  • I got sick from eating a food product — can Safe Food Alliance test it for me?

Safe Food Alliance highly suggests contacting your local public health department such as the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), which can help with investigation and follow-up. Safe Food Alliance also suggests contacting your doctor or going to the emergency room if your illness is severe or persists. Not only will you get the treatment needed, but the CDPH will also be notified and investigate the incident.
