Sacramento, California November 19, 2018 – Safe Food Alliance presents the 5th annual Safe Food California Conference. From April 1st through 4th, 2019 the conference will return to the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California. The event acts as a resource for the food industry, giving attendees a unique opportunity to come together and learn about food safety topics that genuinely affect them.
This year’s conference offers an impressive lineup of exciting topics, trendsetting speakers, and useful courses. There will be more than 25 sessions ranging from general sessions, academy courses, breakout sessions, certified trainings, and exhibit-hall presentations. Topics include updates on FSMA and new regulations, food safety culture, and emerging food processing technologies. Sam Keiper, CEO of Safe Food Alliance, explains the vision of the food safety conference, “As an organization, we have been hosting annual meetings for more than 100 years. We created Safe Food California in 2015 as a way to provide an educational platform to the industry. With our highly knowledgeable staff at the conference, you get that every step of the way”.
The more than 20 speakers at the food safety conference come from powerhouse companies. Craig Wilson, VP of QA & Food Safety at Costco will be giving the keynote address on “Where We Came From & Where We’re Going”, followed by Terry Barr, Senior Director Knowledge Exchange Division at Co-Bank, who will be speaking on “World Business Outlook: With a Focus on Trade, Tariffs, and the Economy.”
The schedule for the conference this year has taken on a new format with an emphasis on different tracks for food safety management, growers, and business leadership. Katie Edwards, Senior Marketing Manager for Safe Food Alliance explains the reason for the change, “We have changed the way the conference is structured to create the most valuable and accessible experience possible. Because there are so many diverse needs in our industry, we want our conference to provide value for all sectors of the food industry.. The first priority is learning. We want everyone who attends to be able to start implementing what they learned immediately. But of course, we want them to have fun while doing it.”
In addition to the onsite conference events, Safe Food Alliance will be hosting the Pinnacle Golf Tournament and Under the Sea Evening Gala. The golf tournament will be hosted at the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course on April 2nd, 2019 and the gala will be at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on April 3rd, 2019.
“This is a great food industry conference to attend,” explains Dane Lance, President of Sunsweet Growers, Inc. “It has a powerful agenda, excellent speakers, and the social events are great opportunities to come together and network with colleagues throughout the industry. I have recommended this conference many times and I look forward to it each year.”
The conference sets itself apart as one of the only West Coast food safety conferences hosted by a dedicated food safety company.
