Safe Food Certifications, LLC, was founded in 2012 (originally as DFA Global Certifications, LLC) and is an independent subsidiary of its parent company, DFA of California, and a sister organization of Safe Food Alliance. Safe Food Certifications is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and was one of the first certification bodies to be accredited under ISO 17065.

Executive Director



Technical Director Antonio Munguia has more than 15 years of experience in the Food Safety & Quality Systems Field. He holds a B.Sc. Biochemistry Engineering & Food Science. He is currently the Lead Auditor for Safe Food Certifications. He is a SQF, BRCGS, Gluten-Free & ASQ HACCP Certified Auditor.  This position led him to perform more than 200 Food Safety Audits in over 90 different plants. Antonio is also a Food Safety Modernization Act Qualified Trainer for the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual and Produce Safety trainings.

Safe Food Certifications services are accessible to all applicants whose activities fall within the scope of its operations. Access to the certification process is not conditional upon the size of the client or membership of any association or group, nor is certification conditional upon the number of certifications already issued

Safe Food Certifications does not provide consulting, training, or laboratory services. While these services are available from our sister organization, Safe Food Alliance, this is the activity of a separate business entity. The training and consulting performed by Safe Food Alliance does not guarantee good grades in certification for GFSI benchmarked certification program audits such as SQF and BRCGS performed by Safe Food Certifications. Safe Food Certifications generates revenue from auditing services sufficient for the existence of the food safety certification business.
