Chemistry

Safe Food Alliance laboratories offer expert services in chemical analysis. Our methods are approved by both the AOAC and the USDA, and we have been recognized by the American Oil Chemists’ Society for excellence in their proficiency testing program for mycotoxin analysis.

Our laboratories offer a variety of analytical techniques, including titrations, gas chromatography (GC), spectroscopy and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC MS/MS). The mission of Safe Food Alliance laboratories is to provide our customers with the best possible support and services.

Our testing and analysis capabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Mycotoxins

Safe Food Alliance’s laboratories have experience in mycotoxins stemming back to the 1970’s. It has been involved in collaborative studies to develop official methods for the AOAC International and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC). The aflatoxin sampling protocol for the AACC was written by our laboratory personnel and Safe Food Alliance was the laboratory contracted with the AOAC International Research Institute to certify the first aflatoxin test kits.

Our laboratory is certified by USDA for aflatoxin analyses and thousands of mycotoxin analyses are performed annually to certify shipments of various dried fruits and tree nuts. If aflatoxin or ochratoxin analyses are needed for shipment, our laboratory is fully competent to meet your testing requirements.

With our new LC/MS (Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer) instrument, Safe Food Alliance can now test for patulin in apple juice.
