On behalf of the Safe Food Alliance Team, we thank our sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees for participating in another very successful Safe Food California conference. It is your participation that makes us the West Coast’s Premier Food Safety Conference!
Together we discussed the challenges our industry faces and our role as we all partner to produce the safest, healthiest food in the world. Some of our educational topics included:
- The necessity of a safe food culture, and the role of leadership in creating one
- The latest in Food Safety Modernization Act compliance— which now requires company leaders to include food safety as part of their strategic planning process
- GFSI schemes as they relate to FSMA
In addition to SFC 2017’s standard sessions, we also offered two certification courses designed to meet requirements for FSMA’s Preventive Controls and Produce Safety rules. If you still need to attend either of these trainings, Safe Food Alliance experts offer classes throughout the year. Check upcoming events and dates at safefoodalliance.com/events.
While education and the future of food safety will always be our focus, Safe Food California isn’t all work— and SFC 2017 included some of our most successful networking events to date.
After our annual Golf Tournament, exhibitors and attendees networked in the exhibit hall during our ever-popular Craft Brew Social Hour. For the first time in SFC history the Craft Brew Social Hour also included our live charity auction, which benefits undergraduate students pursuing food safety related degrees. Safe Food California’s live and silent auctions this year were a fantastic success, raising $9,682 for our beneficiaries!
Our signature Gala Dinner took on a Latin Fusion theme this year, featuring thriving bongos and Cuban drinks during the opening reception, authentic Mexican Mariachis, a gourmet dinner, and Spanish entertainment from Emmy-winning Yaeilisa’s Caminos. Guests were gifted take-home keepsakes in the form of flipbooks, castanets, and hand-rolled cigars to commemorate the evening. We hope to see you at next year’s Gala!
