Safe Food Alliance, as part of our Safe Food California conference, would like to invite you to participate in our charity auctions to benefit the DFA Scholarship Foundation. Proceeds of the auctions are used by the foundation to support college students pursuing a degree in food science, biology, chemistry or a science, with the ultimate goal of attracting future graduates for employment in the food industry.
The mission of the DFA of California Scholarship Foundation is to grant undergraduate students financial awards to assist them with the completion of their science and food safety related degrees and to encourage High School seniors to enter the quality assurance and/or food safety profession.
Safe Food California 2017, hosted at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Spa in Monterey, will be hosting both live and silent auctions to benefit the Foundation. The live auction will take place during our Craft Brew Social Hour on Tuesday, June 6th, while the silent auction will begin on Tuesday evening and close Wednesday night at the end of the Scholarship Foundation Gala. All winners will be announced at the end of the Gala, please note that all items will need to be paid in full when picked up. The Foundation is a 501(c) (3) entity, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
SFC’s charity auctions are only open to conference attendees. If you would like to register for the conference, more information is available here. If you’re unable to make it to this year’s auctions, please consider contributing to the Scholarship Foundation by donating an auction item.
Here’s how you can help with our Scholarship Foundation:
- Consider contributing an item to the auctions. Items can be donated by you, your employer, or both. Some items that have sold well at past auctions include: vacation packages, professional sport tickets, wine/beer/liquor, iPods, iPads, flip cams (any electronics), spa packages, gift cards, cruises, concert tickets, and hotel stays. Please used the below donation form if you wish to contribute.
- Participate by bidding during the auctions at Safe Food California on June 6-8, 2017.
- Attend SFC’s Gala Dinner on June 7, 2017.
Last year, the 2016 SFC charity auctions raised a total of $11,660. All proceeds went directly to students pursuing degrees in agri-business and food science. We greatly appreciate all of your support in making this important event a success. Together we can make a difference!
