Help Build Our Future: DFA Scholarship Foundation Charity Auctions

DFA would like to invite you to participate in our charity auctions to benefit the DFA Scholarship Foundation. Proceeds of the auctions are used by the foundation to support college students pursuing a degree in food science or agribusiness. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) entity, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The mission of the DFA Scholarship Foundation is to assist undergraduate students in California with the completion of their agriculture-related degrees and to encourage High School seniors to enter the agricultural profession. The success of this program is dependent on the ongoing support of all of DFA’s members and industry partners who contribute so generously via their donations to — and participation in — Safe Food California’s annual charity auctions.

Safe Food California 2016, hosted April 18–20 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Spa in Monterey, will be hosting both live and silent auctions to benefit the Foundation. The silent auction stretches through the duration of the conference and the live auction will take place during SFC’s Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala Dinner on the 20th.

SFC’s charity auctions are only open to conference attendees. If you would like to participate in the conference, more information is available here. If you’re unable to make it to this year’s auctions, please consider contributing to the Scholarship Foundation by donating an auction item.

Safe Food California is structured to emphasize an educational platform, industry training, and professional networking. SFC strives to provide a venue for our diverse industry to gather, exchange ideas, and learn about the current trends in food safety and quality practices.

Here’s how you can help the Scholarship Foundation

  • Consider contributing an item to the auctions. Items can be donated by you, your employer, or both. Some items that have sold well at past auctions include: vacation packages, professional sport tickets, wine/beer/liquor, iPods, iPads, flip cams (any electronics), spa packages, gift cards, cruises, concert tickets, and hotel stays.
  • Participate by bidding during the auctions at Safe Food California on April 18-20, 2016.
  • Attend SFC’s Gala Dinner on April 20

Last year, SFC’s charity auctions raised a total of $11,302— directly benefiting the students that will shape the future of our industry. Thank you for your support of this important event. Together we can make a difference!
