Safe Food Alliance participates in Camp Fire Relief Funds On Behalf of Industry Partners
On November 8th, 2018 a deadly fire hit the city of Paradise. In the days that followed, lives would be lost, homes would be destroyed, and the state of California would be forever changed.
The DFA of California Walnut Export Committee felt it was of pivotal importance to do everything they could to ensure that the survivors of this terrible event felt valued and supported. On behalf of the Export Committee, Safe Food Alliance helped administer donations to those impacted by the fire in the Paradise area. In less than 24 hours, the group generously donated over $12,000 to the Paradise survivors. Once the donations were made, members of the Safe Food Alliance team purchased Walmart gift cards and donated them to fire victims at the Chico Salvation Army distribution center on Wednesday, November 22, with a follow up trip on Wednesday, November 28. In addition, the generosity was also seen by many other members of the industry who donated numerous items that helped the Paradise community during this time of great need.
“The Safe Food Alliance team is extremely grateful for the thoughtfulness and selflessness of our food industry family. Being able to raise so much in just a matter of hours is extremely inspiring and brings hope that the Camp Fire victims will be able to recover. We will continue to support the fire victims in whatever way we can” explains Katie Edwards, Senior Marketing Manager for the company. For weeks now, we have seen our community come together through an outpouring of support from organizations big and small and we are so proud to be part of that.
Safe Food Alliance is a company who cares about the people we serve. To all who have donated, we sincerely thank you. To the victims, we are here for you.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated for your immediate response and donations. We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
